Hunter Douglas Manufacturing Plant

Project Overview

  • Master plan development for the Upper Potomac Industrial Park in collaboration with the client, Allegany County Department of Economic Development, and Allegany County Department of Public Works to satisfy the project requirements for a new 26-acre manufacturing facility and shipping terminal, while maximizing the potential of the park for future tenants.
  • Adaptive reuse of an abandoned industrial site, BBA provided all of the planning, permitting, and civil/site design for the construction of a new 349,000 square foot manufacturing building and associated infrastructure.
  • Redevelopment of the property required numerous environmental permitting hurdles, including navigation of the Maryland Department of the Environment’s ‘Brownfield Revitalization’ program.  Buried infrastructure on the site created additional design challenges.
  • Complete construction documents and specifications were completed for Phase I in less than six months.
